Working with me, you’ll notice that I am highly attuned to you. I help you notice the state of your own nervous system, and gently guide you to finding your center using mindfulness-based and somatic exercises. You will find that I’m always attempting to know you better, as a means to deeply understanding your unhelpful, stuck patterns and self-talk. This foundational to effective EMDR. You will notice, too, that I am confident in my skills and am unafraid and speak directly when needed.

EMDR Intensive FAQS
-
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a gentle yet powerful therapy that helps your brain process difficult memories and experiences in a new way. Imagine it like this: EMDR helps your brain create a well organized "file" for those memories so they no longer feel so overwhelming or distressing.
There are 8 distinct phases in EMDR therapy and we will walk through all of them together. Preparation, processing, and integration of new insights are all equally important in EMDR. We'll start by discussing your current challenges and identifying your hopes for change. Then, we will work to build you a toolkit for coping with overwhelm before entering into the processing phases of EMDR. Once your toolkit feels robust enough for you, and we’ve mapped experiences to reprocess, then I'll guide you through bilateral stimulation (tapping gently on your shoulders, or listening to calming tones) while you focus on those memories. This helps your brain reprocess the experience and reduce its emotional intensity.
You'll be in control throughout the process, and I'll be there to offer support and guidance every step of the way.
